The Old Sanctuary Auditorium has gorgeous bones! With the vaulted ceiling and wood paneling, there are no areas to hide or camoflauge. You will be pleased with how elegant even the simplest decorations will be at Old Sanctuary.

At Old Sanctuary, you can decorate in a way that fits your personal style and taste. We provide tables and chairs, but other items, such as linens, archways, columns, etc... must be rented. We do not provide a ladder.

All decorations must be freestanding. Nothing may be taped, stapled, pinned, or nailed to the walls. Helium balloons are prohibited.

We have 290 padded restaurant-style chairs, 30 six-foot tables, 18 eight-foot tables, and 25 ninety-inch round tables. The 6-foot tables seat 6-8 guests, and the 8-foot tables seat 8-10 guests, and the 90-inch tables seat 8-10.

The tables are lightweight "Lifetime" tables, and are 30 inches wide. They do require wider clips for table skirting. These are available wherever you rent your linens.

There is a sound system in Old Sanctuary, and its use is included in rentals. We also provide a lectern and 1 microphone for speakers.

We now have a video screen and projector available for rental. 220-volt power is available onsite.

The kitchen includes use of a refrigerator, two standard stoves, and a microwave. There are two sinks, one of which is a "triple-dip" sink, and plenty of counter space.

Yes. We do not yet have a limit about how far in advance your event may be booked.

We have not established an hourly rate.

We require a signed contract and a deposit of half the rent to hold any date. This amount is typically held as a security deposit until after your event.

A 1-day rental begins at 8 a.m. in the morning and clean-up must be completed by 8 a.m. the following morning. You may not bring in items early, either to store or set up the day before your rental. Substantial multi-day discounts are offered for your convenience.

In general, no, but we do reserve the right to require extra security at certain events.

No. There is no cost to you to have a cash bar at your event, and we do not make you guarantee a certain amount of sales per hour.

You may pre-purchase beverages and host the bar (free for your guests), have a cash bar, or do a combination of both. In any case, we provide a server, cups and napkins.

Old Sanctuary has incurred extra expenses by having a beer and wine license. Our expenses will be factored into the price of beer and wine, but our prices are fair and do not exceed those charged by similar facilities in Brookings.

No. Neither you nor your guests may "bring in" any alcoholic beverages. All wine and malt beverages must be purchased through Old Sanctuary even when you plan to serve, instead of sell, them to your guests. No such beverages may be "brought in" from outside, even if supplied by a caterer who also has a license or operating agreement with the city.

In consideration for our neighbors, serving will conclude at 11 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays, and 10 p.m. on weekdays. (Some events have been "grandfathered in" to conclude serving at 11 p.m. and Midnight.)

We can get anything available through the Brookings Municipal Liquor Store. Approximately two weeks before your event, we will contact you to make arrangements and to see if you have special requests.

Only wine and/or malt beverages, such as beer and wine coolers, are allowed at Old Sanctuary. No "hard" alcohol may be served.
